Doctrine

Take a look below to see a little profile of Pastor Tony's doctrinal teaching at Fountain of Grace. The statements below will not entail all doctrine but it should give you a good idea of the kind of teaching you will receive at Fountain of Grace.

The Bible

I believe that the 66 books of the Bible are inspired by God in its entirety, and are without error in the original autographs, they are the complete revelation from God. There are neither apocryphal books nor church traditions out side of the word of God that have any authority, or divine inspiration for the church. Contained within the 66 books is everything a person needs to know and do the will of God.

One God

I believe that there is only one God, consisting of the person of the Father, the person of the Son, and the person of the Holy Spirit, referred to as the Holy Trinity. Each person of the trinity is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, and eternally immutable.

Sovereignty of God

I believe in the absolute Sovereignty of God to accomplish the eternal purpose that He has purposed in Himself. Contained in that Sovereignty is the allowance for man to make decisions from his own will. However, man’s will can never prevent God’s eternal purpose from being sovereignly accomplished.

Jesus

I believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the promised Messiah, born of a virgin, totally without sin, God in human flesh, the One Who died on the cross for our sins, was buried, rose again from the dead on the third day, and ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven, where He now intercedes for us who believe in Him.

Holy Spirit

I believe that genuine believers are born again by the Holy Spirit of God, and are indwelt by the same Spirit. By the selfsame Spirit they are baptized into the body of Christ, the true church, and sealed by the Holy Spirit, and thus, unable to be separated from the love of Jesus Christ.

Sin

I believe that all humanity is lost and born with a sinful nature, and can only be saved by a personal faith in the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and not by any human merit or performance. Any attempt to mix faith and any kind of work (such as baptism) to merit salvation is a false gospel and will be met with the anathema of God. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation, not water.

Water Baptism

I believe in water emersion baptism. Though I don’t believe baptism saves the soul, the command for every believer to be baptized is clear and the biblical mode of baptism is clear.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit

I believe in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They didn’t cease in the first century but are administered today by the Holy Spirit in accordance to His will and not our own.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

I believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit takes place the moment one believes in Jesus and is placed supernaturally into the body of Christ. It isn’t an experience subsequent to salvation evidenced by speaking in tongues.

Filling of the Holy Spirit

I believe the filling of the Holy Spirit is available to every true believer and can be subsequent to salvation. The fruit of the Holy Spirit will always accompany such filling.

Satan

I believe that a real person called Satan exists who is a fallen, sinful creature in complete opposition to the work and will of God, who, along with all his angels, are destined to spend eternity in the lake of fire. Their work now is to steal, kill and destroy. They are already defeated by the cross and can be resisted by believers, who are protected by God and the intercession of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus Christ's Return

I believe that Jesus Christ is going to return in the clouds for His church before the tribulation that is coming on the whole earth, and that He will return with His saints and all His holy angels to the earth at the end of the tribulation, and set up His kingdom on earth, ruling and reigning out of Jerusalem for a thousand years. He will then destroy this earth and create and new earth.

Heaven

I believe that heaven is a real place in what the scripture calls the “third heaven”. Ultimately God will create a new heaven and earth and the city of God, “the New Jerusalem” will descend from heaven to the new earth, and there on the new earth God will dwell among the nations.

Hell

I believe that hell is a literal temporary place of torment where unbelievers are held until the Great White throne Judgment and then will be cast forever into the Lake of Fire.

Empowered by the Holy Spirit

I believe that all believers need to be filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit to live a godly life and to be bold in our witness for the Lord.

Spiritual Unity

I believe in the spiritual unity of all genuine believers in the Lord Jesus Christ through the baptism of the Holy Spirit whereby all true believers are placed into the body of Christ.

Israel

I believe that the nation of Israel has been chosen by God above all other nations, and that all of the promises of God to Israel will be fulfilled literally.

C&MA Doctrinal Statement

There is one God,(1) who is infinitely perfect,(2) existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.(3)

Jesus Christ is the true God and the true man.(4) He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.(5) He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust,(6) as a substitutionary sacrifice,(7) and all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.(8) He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures.(9) He is now at the right hand of Majesty on high as our great High Priest.(10) He will come again to establish His kingdom, righteousness and peace.(11)

The Holy Spirit is a divine person,(12) sent to indwell, guide, teach, empower the believer,(13) and convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.(14)

The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as originally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men. They constitute the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice.(15)

Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God:(16) he fell through disobedience, incurring thereby both physical and spiritual death. All men are born with a sinful nature,(17) are separated from the life of God, and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ.(18) The portion of the unrepentant and unbelieving is existence forever in conscious torment;(19) and that of the believer, in everlasting joy and bliss.(20)

Salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ for all men; and those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God.(21)

It is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit and be sanctified wholly,(22) being separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to the will of God, thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service.(23) This is both a crisis and a progressive experience wrought in the life of the believer subsequent to conversion.(24)

Provision is made in the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ for the healing of the mortal body.(25) Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are privileges for the Church in this present age.(26)

The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, (27) which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the gospel to all nations.(28) The local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the gospel, and observance of the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.(29)

There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life;(30) for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment.(31)

The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent(32) and will be personal, visible, and premillennial.(33) This is the believer’s blessed hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service.(34)
